Inspiring Leadership, Empowering Voices: The Journey of Dr. Maryam Idrees
Maryam Idrees was born on May 1, 1992, in Mirpur, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan. After completing her education up to the bachelor’s level in her hometown of Mirpur, she obtained a master’s degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Technology and Business Administration Management from the International Islamic University Islamabad, Pakistan, an institution renowned globally, especially in the Muslim world.
Alongside her academic journey, she has played an active role as a social and human rights activist and has participated as a keynote speaker in various programs focused on Kashmir-related issues. She has also contributed significantly to extracurricular activities, earning several awards and recognitions by participating in multiple events.
Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Management Science, with a strong focus on her academic career.
Maryam Idrees is deeply concerned with human welfare and is committed to achieving her life’s objectives by focusing on key areas such as human rights, the Kashmir issue, the healthcare system, child and women protection, and education reform.
She has attended numerous seminars, training workshops, and conferences related to her profession and areas of interest, including the following:
- She had attended International Training on the latest application of “Business Information Management System” workshop held at Hefei, Anhui, China, and Yinchuan, Ningxia, China September 2017.
- She has presented a research paper in 5th IABRC (international applied business research conference) in 2016.
- She had attended “Technology Transfer in South Asian countries” workshop held at Kunming, China August 6, 2016 by Ministry of Science and technology china.
- She had attended a Seminar on the topic “E-Commerce; system security and Quality” (2015).
- She had attended Start-up EXPO Conference 2015 Islamabad.
- She had attended LCL (LEARN, CREATE & LEAD) 3rd Entrepreneurship conference 2013 Islamabad.
- She had attended a workshop on Entrepreneurship (2014).
- She has attended Internation Kashmir Humain rights week.
- She has attended Conference on International peace day.

Advancing Education and Social Awareness for a Progressive Pakistan
Prioritizing education, Maryam Idrees has visited several national and international government educational institutions in Kashmir, Pakistan, and China to observe and study their education systems. Her objective has been to contribute to the improvement and development of Pakistan’s education system by introducing advanced techniques that equip the new generation to meet the demands of the modern era and compete with today’s global challenges.
The most prominent and renown educational institutions visited by her include Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, china, Beijing University of Technology, China. Maryam Idrees envisions a better and more progressive Pakistan. Her dedication and passion are reflected in her tireless efforts to bring about meaningful and positive change, addressing the core issues that continue to challenge our society.
Since the beginning of her academic journey, Maryam Idrees has been dedicated to raising awareness and engaging the younger generation on critical social issues. As a committed social activist, she has played a vital role in promoting empowerment across various sectors and aspects of life. In recognition of her impactful efforts and unwavering commitment to her objectives, she was honored by Prof. Dr. Yousaf Ahmed Al-Draiweesh, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad.
She conducted numerous seminars, training workshops, awareness programs and study circle at the national level for the awareness of the young students regarding some solemn topics, which are as listed below:

- She conducted a seminar on Demographical changes in Occupied jammu & kashmir by Indian Government.
- Seminar on UN charter and resolutions on the Rights of self determination for the people of Occupied Jammu & kashmir.

Self-Determination Advocacy Award
Honored with an award presented by former AJK President Masood Khan, former MLA Nasima Wani, and Raja Nijabat, in recognition of advocacy on the Rights of Self-Determination and the Kashmir issue through impactful social media engagement, awareness campaigns, and community mobilization.
Website Designing and Development (2017)
Presented to Maryam Idrees during Culture Week 2017 at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), by the President of the University, Dr. Al-Darwaish, for securing 3rd Prize in website designing and development.
Social and Human Rights Activism (2023)
